Japanese Stone Lanterns & Basins

Our ISHI DORO line of Japanese garden lanterns, posts and basins in traditional designs are hand-crafted from solid granite stone in the Xiamen province of Eastern China. The stone lanterns are available in many styles from the ornately formal to simply rustic in a variety of sizes and ALL are pre-drilled to accommodate low-voltage lighting! We are pleased to be able to offer these items at VERY reasonable prices and can ship them anywhere in the US.

SUMMER CONTAINER NEWS (updated 8/20/25):

Our Summer container is set to hit-the-water from Xiamen, China on 8/29 and due in Tacoma WA around 9/17. Presuming no port or customs delays, we hope to land this load of goods here sometime the week of 9/22 (fingers-crossed!) If you have a pending order and have not heard from us by the first or second week of October, please EMAIL us and we will give you an update on your order status. We ask that you PLEASE DON'T CALL FOR THIS INFO as we are likely all-hands-on-deck working extra-hard unpacking crates, sorting lanterns, building orders and getting them packed and shipped so having to "run for the phone" slows our process down! THANKS for understanding the reason behind this request - it's not like we don't want to talk to you, really.

The whole tariff situation is still a mess, even though Trump put another delay on the whopping reciprocal tariff for another 90 days. Even without that, our duty burden on this next can is projected to be 52% so don't be fooled by a president who creates problems then celebrates when he "fixes" them! The 10% tariff surcharge on all newly arrived goods will remain in place. Still NO SALES TAX on goods shipping from Oregon so we feel the surcharge is not too cumbersome. 

TIPS ON BEATING THE HIGH COST OF SHIPPING: Stone lanterns and basins must ship via pallet freight except for the smallest sizes. We have seen a steady increase in common freight shipping costs the last few years as fuel and labor costs have risen significantly in the trucking industry. We have a few suggestions on HOW TO GET THE BEST FREIGHT VALUE when purchasing these goods:                                              

1. Purchase multiple items if you can - due to common freight carrier pricing structure, it is about the same to pallet ship one item as it is two or three up to around 500 lbs. Costs go up from there but not radically. Only want one item? Ask a friend if they want to place an order and split the pallet freight to one home the other!                                                                                              

2. Belong to a garden club? Get members together and make a group purchase to share freight costs as long as we ship to one location!                                                                                                 

3. Know a local business owner who has a loading dock or forklift? Ask them if you can have your order shipped there. You can save some real $$$ doing that OR if you have a truck and live near a major metro area, consider going to the freight terminal to pickup your order and avoid residential liftgate charges.

NOTE THAT AN ITEM LISTED AS "STOCK ITEM" WON'T MEAN THAT IT IS ALWAYS IN STOCK, JUST THAT IT IS SOMETHING WE ORDER FOR INVENTORY ON A REGULAR BASIS. "SPECIAL ORDER" USUALLY MEANS THAT WE TYPICALLY DON'T ORDER THIS SIZE OR TYPE IN ON A REGULAR BASIS UNLESS REQUESTED BY A CUSTOMER BUT, THIS IS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE SO CHECK WITH US TO BE SURE. SPECIAL ORDERS ARE USUALLY AVAILABLE WITH A 3-4 MONTH LEAD TIME DEPENDING ON WHEN THE ORDER IS PLACED IN RELATION TO THE TIMING OF OUR CONTAINERS WHICH ARE USUALLY LANDING IN SPRING AND FALL.
